The University of York is famous for its wildfowl, especially its geese which are well known for menacing unsuspecting students. The pair of swans in this painting live on Campus West and, when not gliding past Central Hall, can be found relaxing outside the Exhibition Centre or investigating the Long Boi statue in Derwent.

Derwent is one of the two original Colleges at the University of York, and more recently became the home to Long Boi. Situated on the Campus West lake, this view combining the College’s 60s prefabricated accommodation blocks and the beautiful Jacobean manor house (Heslington Hall) is a favourite of York students.

Long Boi was a much loved runner duck who lived for a while around Derwent College, now immortalised with a statue by the lake. This scene is from one of the few snowy days on campus when one of the University’s swans decided to say hello to the statue.

York’s beautiful minster dominates the city’s skyline and is one of my favourite places to explore as a resident. This view of the minster, taken from Exhibition Square, includes Bootham Bar and the Grade II listed De Grey Rooms.
